An in-class guidance workshop was held to prep eighth grade students for their high school transition. Students received a copy of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and were asked to read the book and write a reflective journal entry on each of the seven habits. During Freshmen Orientation, the incoming ninth graders worked with a team of GHS Student Ambassadors on an activity designed to engage students in a discussion on the seven habits. “I was really able to connect with the book. It opened my mind to what I needed to do to be successful in high school and also in the future. I still keep the book in my backpack, so I can read it when I have free time or need some encouragement on a bad day,” shared a student who participated in the program.
