We’re happy to announce the winners of the 8th Annual Essay Contest! We received 88 entries and we want to thank our judges for reading all the wonderful essays. The essay contest was open to all 4th and 5th graders in Goochland County Public Schools. Students wrote their essay in response to the question “Who inspires you and why does he or she inspire you?” This year’s essay question came about from the combined effort of the 4th grade classes at Byrd Elementary School; we celebrated them with a popcorn party! The student entries were clever and insightful about the topic, and it’s always interesting what we can learn from young children.
The awards ceremony took place April 10th at Luck Stone Companies Corporate Office in Manakin Sabot and refreshments were provided by Goochland High School Culinary Students and Chef Erlenbach. It was a wonderful time to celebrate these students who each received $100 for their winning entry
