GEF EdVentures provides after-school enrichment programs at Byrd, Randolph, and Goochland elementary schools, creating fun, safe, and supportive environments where kids can explore, grow, and thrive. We’re looking for enthusiastic and dependable Program Staff to help lead students through a variety of creative and educational activities.

- Part-time Program Staff to float between our three program sites (Byrd, Goochland & Randolph elementary schools)
Job Title: Part-Time Program Staff – GEF EdVentures After School Enrichment Program
Organization: Goochland Education Foundation
Location: Byrd Elementary, Randolph Elementary, and Goochland Elementary Schools, Goochland County, VA
Schedule: Hours vary based on program schedule
Hourly Rate: $20/hr
Expected hours: 20 per week (2-6pm each week day)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and engage groups of students through fun, developmentally appropriate enrichment activities.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students to meet their individual social, emotional, and learning needs.
- Support students with homework and promote academic success.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times.
- Help set up and clean up activity spaces and manage materials.
- Model positive behavior and promote teamwork among students.
- Follow all GEF and school site policies, safety procedures, and licensing requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, parents, and school staff.
- Help maintain an inclusive, respectful, and encouraging program culture.
Requirements:
To qualify as Program Staff, candidates must meet the Virginia Regulations for Licensed Child Day Centers (Program Leader) requirements. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have:
A completed high school program or equivalent.
One of the following:
A degree or endorsement in a child-related field (e.g., education, recreation, nursing).
Three months of programmatic experience and one of the following:
A one-year early childhood certificate (at least 30 semester hours).
A child development credential from an accredited organization.
A teaching diploma from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori program.
Six months of supervised experience in a licensed child care or educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with school-age children in afterschool or educational settings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for child development.
- Ability to lead group activities and manage behavior in a positive and respectful way.
- Dependability and professionalism.
