We’re excited to announce the winners of the 9th Annual Essay Contest! We received 60 entries and we want to thank our judges for reading all the wonderful essays.
The essay contest was open to all 4th and 5th graders in Goochland County Public Schools. Students wrote their essay in response to the question “If trees could talk . . . You have found a tree that dates back to 1776 — What story would it tell you?”
This year’s essay question aligned with the Goochland Witness Tree Challenge and was submitted by Mrs. Lull’s class at Byrd Elementary School.
The awards ceremony took place April 28th at Goochland Elementary School. It was a wonderful time to celebrate these students who each received $100 for their winning entry.
